Dr. Ed Holmes, Medical Director

Dr. Ed Holmes serves as medical director of Regency Hospital Meridian, where he oversees medical services and physician practices.

Dr. Holmes is board-certified in internal and pulmonary medicine. He has special interests in COPD, mechanical ventilation and pulmonary rehabilitation.

In 2019, after a 38-year career, he retired from private practice, hospital pulmonary and acute care. He remains medical director of Anderson Regional Medical Center’s pulmonary rehabilitation program.

During his long career, Dr. Holmes served as Anderson Regional Medical Center’s chief of staff, Riley Hospital’s chief of medicine and as president of his medical group, Meridian Medical Associates.

In 2018, he received the Thomas K. Browne Physician Champion Award from Regency’s parent company, Select Medical. He is also a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Holmes earned undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Mississippi, graduating summa cum laude from medical school. His internal medicine residency and pulmonary/critical care fellowship were completed at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
