Regency Hospital Cleveland West – Leadership Team

Dr. Jose Contreres, Medical Director

Dr. Jose Contreras is the interim medical director of Regency Hospital Cleveland West. In this role since 2022, he will work with Dr. Alice Kim, LTACH Joint Venture and Regency Hospital Cleveland West’s leadership to implement quality, operational, care standards and growth initiatives.

Additionally, he serves as associate director of the Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital medical intensive care unit and is a staff physician at Cleveland Clinic’s Respiratory Institute. Dr. Contreras’ interests include resident and advanced practitioner teaching and education, neuromuscular diseases, sleep disorders in intensive care unit patients and informatics.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida and medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine. Dr. Contreras completed residency and a pulmonary medicine fellowship at Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York. He also earned fellowships in critical care medicine at New York City’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Medical Center and sleep medicine at the Rochester, New York’s Mayo Clinic.
